Parenting Performativities

In August 2018, I presented a paper on behalf of my colleagues at the 2018 American Sociological Association Annual Meeting. Using intergenerational data from the Child Development Supplement to the Panel Study of Income Dynamics, our research showed that parenting dispositions and parents’ beliefs about gender roles matter when trying to account for variation in children’s academic skills growth.
